Everyone has needs and when the needs become extravagant there becomes war. Many wars are started because of someone’s needs. In the book, when Eva and Nell have everything, it tells that Eva needs her music and dance studio as Nell needs her books and quiet time. When their parents died they got hit in the face by reality and noticed that all the things their parents did for them are now gone, like; paying the bills, cook, clean, etc. they are slowly losing everything the only need they really have is to cherish the love they have for each other. We can see that they realize that everything is going down hill but why can’t they find food other than in their pantry? Their friendship grows stronger as their trust for others grows weaker. We really do take everything for granted, I no I do. But when all are needs are taken from us what are we going to do? Start another war?

i like how you brought the girls needs and compared them to how we all have individual wants and needs as well. I like how you say that all we really need, in the end, is love. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you for the most part. I agree how there love is growing stranger and other friendships are growing weaker, and what would we do if we lived in there world? maybe another war, who knows. I can kinda say i take things for granted especially to them but i realy do try and save our water and not buy what i don't need and i use whtever it is until it's gone and i don't update just because i want the next best thing. I feel bad for them but if they hadnt been so "blind" when everything was normal then maybe things would be a little different for them now.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you when you all say we all need. however i feel that needing to be better than what you are already is what really motivates people to better them selves in life. this is why i feel needing is sometimes a good thing to a certain point.
ReplyDeleteYour first statement completely reminds me of Marie Antoinette and how she was beheaded because of her to extravagant lifestyle while the world outside of her mansion was in war. The list goes on when it comes to war because of someone elses need. Good point! :)
ReplyDeleteWars do start because of needs and greedy people, and its people who are never satisfied with what they have. It's the little things that matter and those little things that people need to appreciate. Nell has her dancing and Eva has her studies and they are being greedy with their knowledge and that's the most powerful quality a person could have. The knowledge of the forest helps them get by and this book shows there's more to the world than the materialistic needs.
ReplyDeletePeople don't know what's important. Many people will be stuck in a cubicle working for some big corporation with some job they don't love and live miserably for the rest of their lives. People need to follow their hearts. (sounds cheesy but it's true hahaha)
